Privacy Policy

This privacy notice tells you what I will do with your personal information from initial point of contact through to after your therapy has ended. By engaging in counselling sessions with Conscious Minds you agree and acknowledge to the terms of this Privacy Policy.

My lawful basis for holding and using your personal information

​Under GDPR, I am required by law to have a lawful basis for processing your personal data. The basis for processing may vary depending on the stage at which your data is being processed. If you have completed therapy with me, I will rely on legitimate interest as the lawful basis for retaining and using your personal information. If you are currently in therapy or have contacted me to explore therapy, I will process your personal data as necessary for the performance of our contract.

GDPR ensures that any sensitive personal information you share with me is properly protected. This includes special category personal data, (sensitive information). The lawful basis for processing such information is that it is necessary for the provision of health treatment—in this case, counselling—under a contract with a health professional, which is the agreement between you and I.

How I use your information 

When you contact me with an inquiry about my counselling services, I will collect information to help satisfy your inquiry. Including 

  • Your name

  • Address

  • Phone number

  • E-mail address

  • GP details

  • Relevant medical information deemed useful for our work together.

If you decide not to proceed, I will ensure all the personal data is deleted within 48 hours.

Electronic Notes

I will keep notes of each session, these are kept electronically and password protected. Any e-mail correspondence will be deleted after one month if it is not important. If necessary, I will make a note of this information in my electronic written notes. Once our work together has come to an end, your records will be kept for five years from the end of our contract then they are securely destroyed.

 

Third party recipients of personal data

​To ensure the confidentiality and security of your personal data, the information I collect from you will not be shared with third parties unless;

  • There is an immediate risk that you will take your own life or endanger others.

  • you disclose information about acts of terrorism, money laundering, drugs and people trafficking.

  • If your information has been requested under a court order.

I attend regular clinical supervision where I may discuss our work together, your identity will never be anonymised, my supervisor is also a member of the BACP and bound by the same code of ethics. I hold a clinical will, If I am unable to contact you myself due to severe illness or death my supervisor will notify you. If you do not wish your contact details to be shared with them please let me know.

Your rights

​As a client you have a right to; 

  • Ask me to delete or amend your personal information I hold about you

  • Ask for a copy of any information that I hold about you and to object to the use of your personal data in some circumstances.
